At New Student Orientation, you will meet with an academic advisor, connect with other new Terps, and register for classes. Our program is designed to prepare you for the academic rigor at UMD, introduce you to Maryland traditions, and acquaint you with campus resources.
Winter New Student Orientation registration will open on November 1st.

Incoming students who wish to change their intended major should email their request to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at ApplyMaryland@umd.edu using the subject line "Change of Major Request". Please note that your New Student Orientation date is dependent upon your major and may need to be changed once your change of major is processed. Once you have received a confirmation that your major has been updated, please call our office to double check that your New Student Orientation date works for you new major.
Orientation gives you an opportunity to learn about the huge campus and meet other students in your college or year. I love that I was able to learn campus traditions and it really made me excited for school in the fall.
