Renewing Vehicle Registration in Pennsylvania

There are several ways to renew your vehicle registration in Pennsylvania. You can renew:

• Online.
• By mail.
• With an authorized agent or online messenger.

You can renew your registration for 1 or 2 years at a time.

Renew Pennsylvania Registration Online

To renew online, you will need printer access to print your registration document after you complete your transaction.

Visit the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) online system and provide your:

• Plate number.
• Title number.
• Insurance information.
• Odometer reading.
• Credit or debit card information. PennDOT accepts:
  • Visa.
  • Mastercard.
  • American Express.
  • Discover.

  Print your registration when you finish the transaction and keep it in your vehicle.

  Renew PA Registration by Mail

  To renew your registration by mail, simply follow the instructions printed on the renewal notice PennDOT sent to your residence.

  If you didn’t receive a renewal notice but still want to renew by mail:

  • Complete a Request for Registration MV-140) form.
  • Provide a check or money order for your amount due made payable to the “Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”
  • Mail your items to:

  Renew Pennsylvania Registration in Person

  To renew your registration in person, visit any of PennDOT’s online messenger locations. There, you may be asked to provide your:

  • Valid Pennsylvania ID.
  • Valid PA insurance card.
  • Plate number.
  • Title number.
  • Odometer reading.
  • Payment for the renewal fee.

  PA Registration Renewal Fees

  Your county of residence may charge an additional fee to renew registration.

  • Passenger vehicle (1-year renewal): $38.00.
  • Passenger vehicle (2-year renewal): $76.00.
  • Motorcycle (1-year renewal): $20.00.
  • Motorcycle (2-year renewal): $40.00.
